Buckethead

Buckethead

Buckethead is a virtuoso guitarist and multi-instrumentalist who performs across many genres of music. He has released over 700 studio recordings—more than any other artist in history—with over 650 of those belonging to his Pike series. He has also appeared on more than 50 albums by other artists. His music spans a wide range of styles, including progressive metal, funk, blues, jazz, bluegrass, and avant-garde.

When performing in his theatrical persona, Buckethead traditionally wore a KFC bucket on his head, emblazoned with an orange bumper sticker reading “FUNERAL” in black block letters, along with an expressionless plain white mask. More recently, he has switched to a plain white bucket without the KFC logo. His live performances often incorporate nunchucks, robot dancing, and toy trading. Buckethead’s persona represents a character said to have been “raised by chickens,” whose mission in life is to alert the world to the ongoing chicken holocaust in fast-food restaurants around the globe.

An instrumentalist, Buckethead is best known for his electric guitar playing. He has been voted by GuitarOne magazine as one of the “Top 10 Greatest Guitar Shredders of All Time,” and Guitar World credits him with “ushering in a new era of virtuosity.” In recent years,

Buckethead has performed primarily as a solo artist and with a three-piece band. He has collaborated with many high-profile artists, including Bootsy Collins, Bill Laswell and Praxis, Les Claypool, Bernie Worrell, Iggy Pop, Serj Tankian, Mike Patton, Viggo Mortensen, Brain and tons more.
