Our Act Out Theatre program offers the young performer of any level the exciting opportunity to be part of a full production of a popular musical. Students will work with a professional theatre staff (musical director, choreographer, stage manager and counselors) in a positive and nurturing environment.

Our fall session will feature the Stephen Sondheim classic musical for two groups:

INTO THE WOODS JR. FOR CHILDREN 7-12

Into the Woods JR. keeps the fairy-tale adventure but simplifies the themes within a 60–75 minute format. The sophisticated score has been adapted to make it more accessible to young performers.

CLASSES MEET MONDAYS AND TUESDAYS beginning Sept 14 from 4:30-6:30pm at the Patchogue Theatre. Tech Week is the week of November 30 and additional rehearsals will be assigned. Performances are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday December 5 & 6 at 2pm.

INTO THE WOODS - FULL VERSION FOR TEENS 13+.

We are excited to offer our Act Out Teens the opportunity to perform the FULL BROADWAY PRODUCTION (2 1/2 hours) of this classic musical.

This class meets MONDAYS AND TUESDAYS 6:45-9:00pm beginning September 14 until Tech/Show Week: when additional times and/or days may be added. Performances are scheduled for the weekend of December 4-6th.

All roles are open and all students are cast in the show after an in-class audition on Day 1.

About the show:

James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece... and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching. The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
