There’s an old adage that states “Behind every great man, there’s a great woman”. On Broadway, it might be more appropriate to say “Behind every great musical, there’s a great leading lady”. Roles like Elphaba (Wicked), Christine Daae (The Phantom of the Opera), Eponine (Les Miserables), Nala (The Lion King), Kim (Miss Saigon), Mary Magdalene (Jesus Christ Superstar), Marian Paroo (The Music Man) and countless others have left an indelible impression on the Broadway stage.
BROADWAY DIVAFEST is an all-new concert event created exclusively for Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts. The concert will allow the performers to display their great talents and versatility, share backstage behind-the-scenes anecdotes and conduct an enlightening and entertaining question and answer session with the audience. Produced and hosted by New York Casting Director and Producing Artistic Director Stephen DeAngelis, five of Broadway’s finest female vocalists will recreate their most memorable moments and celebrate some of the roles and musical selections that underscore the leading lady’s influence on "The Great White Way”.
Scheduled performers include Jennifer DiNoia (Wicked); Rona Figueroa (Les Miserables; Miss Saigon; Nine; Lennon), Sara Jean Ford (The Phantom of the Opera; Cats; How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying; A Little Night Music; Finian’s Rainbow), Kissy Simmons (The Lion King), and Tony Award and Drama Desk Award nominee Emily Skinner (Prince of Broadway; Billy Elliot; Dinner at Eight; The Full Monty; James Joyce’s The Dead; Side Show; Jekyll & Hyde). Musical Director/Accompanist will be Wendy Cavett. Join us for what is certain to be a “can’t miss” event for musical theatre lovers of all ages.
